SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKER: MICHAEL OSBORNE, MODSF
Co-sponsored by Metropolitan Fine Printers, the Salazar Student Awards recognize projects of up-and-coming design students across British Columbia. Selected by a panel of distinguished design professionals, a winner is selected in three areas: Print Design, Advertising and Interactive Design. The Graphic Designers of Canada – BC Chapter will be hosting the Salazar Student Awards May 8th, 2009 from 6-10pm at the Emily Carr University Lecture Theatre. The annual awards program recognizes outstanding student design projects from throughout the province. In addition, a keynote address by Michael Osborne, President and Creative Director of the San Francisco-based graphic design firm MODSF.
The GDC/BC Salazar Student Awards, established in 1985 by the British Columbia Mainland Chapter of The Society of Graphic Designers of Canada, was created in honor of Enrique Salazar. Mr. Salazar was one of the founding members of the society and the national representative for the BC chapter for two years. He was a partner in Salazar Graphics, and taught graphic design at Capilano College until his death in June of 1985.

AWARDS
A cash prize of $500 will be awarded to one student from each of the following categories: A judging committee comprised of top professionals of the GDC/BC will be reviewing and selecting the winners and honorable mentions. Judging will be based on the strategy and rationales of the pieces as well as the level of visual execution.
