The Society of Graphic Designers/BC Chapter welcome you to the first in an inaugural series of design speaking events on Thursday, October 18th, 2007.
Along with the book launch for Logo Savvy: Top Brand-Design Firms Share Their Naming and Identity Strategies*, published by Rockport Publishers, this evening includes presentations by representatives of 3 well-known and respected design firms.
Each special guest will showcase a select project from the publication Logo Savvy and thoroughly present the specific project goals, strategic framework, formulation of conceptual development, creative application, through to final delivery.
Following the presentations, a short Q&A period will be available to the audience.

Perry was born to be a designer. And that was never more apparent than when he began studying electrical engineering back in his native Singapore. With the profound words, "I hate this" Perry left both school and Singapore for Vancouver Canada to embark on his education, then career as an internationally sought after brand and graphic designer. Over the past 15 years he's shown an uncanny ability to apply his strategic thinking to clean, compelling and innovative design. Perry has collected his share of awards but sees the true reward of his work in the effectiveness of it. Clients have included McDonald's, Sunrype, MEC, Nokia, and Intrawest.
Perry is the co-writer of Logo Savvy, published by Rockport and is currently authoring a second book on design.

At 21, he pursued an entrepreneurial dream and opened his commercial photography studio in Vancouver where he serviced design and advertising clients including Palmer Jarvis and J. Walter Thompson. During that time, Dann unveiled a unique aptitude for branding and strategic thinking.
With 17 years of experience and a number of original branding breakthroughs under his belt, Dann has implemented effective branding strategies for a number of companies to help them successfully attract capital, market share and employees.

A London transplant from industry-leading design and brand consultancies such as Landor Associates, Enterprise IG, Addison and 20/20 Design, James brings 16 years of brand identity, environmental graphics and retail experience to Karacters. Having directed the creative on an array of great brands, highlights from his career are the re-branding of British Midland International and Sainsbury's-one of the UK's largest supermarkets, where he was responsible for the branding, identity, signage and environmental graphics. Since coming to Karacters, he has brought his creativity and talent to assignments such as for VANOC and the Canadian Tourism Commision. James is a professional member of the Society for Environmental Graphic Design.
