In this companion volume to The Tree of Meaning (Gaspereau Press,2006), Robert Bringhurst gathers twenty essays and translations under the principle that “everything is related to everything else.” His studies of poetry, polyphonic music, indigenous oral literature, mythology, typography and cultural responsibility meet here on common ground. The volume includes an exemplary new version of the Fragments of the Presocratic philosopher-poet Parmenides, freshly translated from classical Greek, counterbalanced by a new translation of “The Origin of Horses” as told by the Navajo mythteller Chaalatsoh.
