Job Opportunity Alert: Junior Designer in Marketing Dept at Raincoast Books

Raincoast Books is looking for a Junior Designer to fill a part-time contract position in the Marketing Department. The contract is for a designer to work in-house at Raincoast for three days a week for six months, from mid-October 2007 to mid-April 2008.

Duties will include:

• Designing ads, marketing materials and point-of-sale promotions.
• Preparing files for print and liaising with printers, suppliers and service bureaus to produce finished products.
• Collecting and processing images from client publishers for use in the Raincoast catalogue.
• Layout and production catalogues.
• Preparing image files to be sent to print media as requested.
• Updating the Raincoast website where necessary.

The successful candidate will be proficient in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, ImageReady and Fetch on a Mac. Knowledge of basic HTML is an asset. The successful candidate will be creative, resourceful, able to work effectively to deadlines and multi-task.
