GDC/BC AGM & Shared Dreams Design Exhibit
  1. Leanne Says:

The GDC is still looking for members or students to volunteer for the upcoming Shared Dreams Exhibit and GDC Annual AGM on Feb 1st.

We need three more volunteers to offer assistance for the night of the SharedDreams/AGM for some of the following tasks:

    • Registration table for AGM and Shared Dreams & Ticket Sales
    • Graphex catalogue sales and information (we can prep you on what to
      say before the event)
    • GDC T-shirt sales
    • Shared Dreams limited poster sales table
    • Clean up

If you can volunteer, please let me know as soon as possible at volunteer.bc@gdc.net. We will need volunteers to show up at ECAID at 6pm.

Thanks to all of those members who have volunteered in the last two weeks with postering and setting up the exhibit It\’s really appreciated.

  2. Matt Warburton FGDC Says:

Personally I don’t like the idea of mixing a guest speakers event with the AGM. I know why the BC exec has done it over the past few years (trying to get more people out to AGMs and raise awareness of what the chapter has done over the past year), but I think that the format gets in the way of allowing members to voice their opinions, give direction for the future and question the execs on actions and or policies.

Plus because its tied with a “boring” AGM, it usually means that fewer people come out to hear people like Toni and Larry who had a really good message to get out, but could probably see everyone fading by the time they got on stage so it felt like they cut themselves short.

It is an interesting exhibit, but, and yes this Matt saying this, the type was TOO SMALL and the leading was too tight on the information panels that were with each poster.

It was nice that the speakers were so readily available to talk to afterwards though and the music gave a nice atmosphere.

Lightly chilled Cuban beers would have been really nice!!

    - Matt
