GDC Annual General Meeting Flickr Stream

GDCAGM2006The AGM was just hosted in Edmonton by Alberta North and it was an inspiring and particularly productive weekend. Our priorities have been categorized and concrete actions settled on in a day long session; improvement continue to be made to our society and for our profession. Its amazing and humbling to be a part of such a focussed and capable group of people that care so much for their profession. The best part is that the more you put in the more you get out. This organization pays you back double.

It was also a blast. As proved here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/gdcagmedm2006/

The AGM was an eye opener. Really great to finally meet everybody in person.

  2. oo Says:

Great to put more faces to names. Looking forward to Montreal. Gotta figure out a way to get there…

  3. Michael Surtees Says:

Nice write up about the GDC AGM Mark. There was a lot of hard work accomplished and I was happy to celebrate the successes with all of you. I’m not sure how it happened, but could you Team BC people mail me back my clothing items that were left in your rooms?

  4. sigrid Says:

Michael (Surtees), if you read this, I have your black sweater. It was left in Marian’s and my room during one of your frequent visits. Marian identified it from a photo today. We thought it was from another one of the many men that visited our room.

Please send your address to me at education.bc@gdc.net and I will mail you your sweater.

    Thank you.

    Sigrid

This was my 10th (and possibly last) national AGM. I caught the bug in 1996 on the dawn of accreditation in Ontario and have been a junkie ever since. This year’s was a continuation of the same great vibe: intense meetings, inspirational reporting and planning; and out-of-this world socializing, debating, partying — in a word, connecting. That’s what the GDC is, and always has been, about. Canada feels so much connected after every one of these meetings, and with a Newfie from the Arctic, we were truly sea to sea to sea this time!!

  6. Karla Says:

Agreed! Many great moments in 2 very intense days. You are all inspiring, now I’m gonna steal all your ideas… after I nap.

  7. Brenda Says:

All the fun and inspiration of a GDC AGM and CAKE too! Not a bad way to throw an 50 birthday party. Maybe I’ll get to nap next year…..See you all in Montreal.

Hi all, you might have heard about the goofy presentation the BC Chapter delegates gave at the AGM.

In true BC style, our entire crew got kitted up with matching red track jackets (thanks American Apparel) with GDC BC on the back (set in cheesy fuzzy white Cooper Black lettering of course) and led the entire delegation in “Designer Calisthenics” as our chapter report.

We essentially ignored all the slides of images that showed all the great events and initiatives we undertook as a chapter (which we submitted in our reports anyway), but rather chose to get the entire room up out of their seats, stretching and doing silly exercises such as the Pantone Fan, Exacto Flex and Money Dance.

You can view the images from our presentation here.
