Event Costs

money.jpgSome events are worth paying for, we have tried to make as many events free or as affordable as possible for GDC members. Sometimes however, we need to recover costs and have charged members $15 for  and non-members $25. With some impressive events and speakers coming this year, what do you think is fare price for this caliber of event?

Event Costs
  1. Matt SamyciaWood Says:

$25 is a good price for non-members [although could be too high for students, there could be a third price of $20 for students].

I came to the Cuba event [which was great] and with all the door prizes I left with at least $150 worth of prizes, so $25 a head is a great deal.

  2. blprnt Says:

I think $25 is right on the mark. It’s important to be able to bring in high-caliber speakers, and that requires money.

I’d like to see a big discount for students - maybe the same price as for members. As an instructor, I know that a lot of my students are pressed for cash.

  3. xxxx Says:

As a “professional”, if you’re not willing to part with 50% of your hourly rate to spend an hour learning from someone who is better/smarter than you are, maybe you’re charging too much.

  4. danielle Says:

i think most people tend to forget that they also ate well at our events? no one remembers to add those costs into the $15-25. (Often we give you a free drink ticket too)

Was the food at the Cuba Holiday Social great! thanks to Sugar Mountain Catering.
