Colours of Cuba Holiday Fiesta

Colours of Cuba This year the GDC/BC hosted a fabulous Cuba-themed holiday party for it’s members called Colours of Cuba featuring a live performance by the sultry Afro-Cuban sounds of La Candela, salsa dancing, Cuban-inspired tapas and fresh mojitos. A food drive of non-perishable items was donated to the Vancouver Food Bank and our raffle produced a sizable donation to the Cuban relief fund. The best part of all is that the event was for BC members. How did you like the event? Any feedback or suggestions for improvements in the future?

  1. Andrea Says:

You guys did an amazing job on the Cuba party. Having been to Cuba myself, I found it quite authentic and reminded me of Havana. Loved the visuals and strong mojitos. The only constructive criticism I’d offer is to do doorprizes or announcements earlier when people are sober and paying attention. Many people had already left.

  2. sigrid Says:

I agree. The announcements and door prizes should be done earlier and could also be kept much shorter - 10 minutes maybe. It went on for 45 minutes and interrupted the flow of the party.

This should be good news for whoever the sponsorship VP is - less work for them, and more time for socializing.

I agree. Now we know for next time.
A lot of students did stick around for the whole event which was great! A number of them walked away with some stellar prizes and a tango lesson.

Great music, great location, great food, great people! but the event couldn’t of happened without all our many volunteers who helped out. I’d like to thank them again, thanks!!
